Game Changers: Detroit Coaching Community Day

Join us for a free Coaching Training and Community Day designed to celebrate, equip, and connect the people who show up for Detroit’s kids every day.

This event is open to all sports and all experience levels, from seasoned coaches to new volunteers, parents, and mentors.

Training will be provided through Yes, Coach!™, an initiative of U.S. Soccer Foundation and Stand Together that equips youth sports coaches with innovative tools to foster positive, safe environments and build character in young people on and off the field.

Learn strategies in effectively and authentically communicating your organization’s mission, programs and impact. Hear from resident experts across the region on practical strategies and ready-to-use tools that you can implement immediately. Participants can expect to learn how to better frame messages for various audiences, tangible examples of communication tools (social media, newsletter and hard copy assets), and developing a marketing calendar.

Sports Sampling Instructional Training

Aligning with the Project Play 8 Plays framework to encourage sports sampling, this training will explore best practices in hosting one-day or ongoing programs, equipping you with the tools to provide an engaging and well-rounded experience for youth. 

Attendees will be introduced to non-traditional sports such as field hockey and archery. Guests can also expect to leave with new ideas, strategies to implement your own sports sampling programs and equipment to get you started.

Girls in Sports: Title IX Celebration

Project Play: Southeast Michigan, in collaboration with various sports and youth development organizations, welcomes dozens of girls from across the region to the UWM Sports Complex for a day filled with sports sampling, exciting giveaways and fun activities.

Join us on Friday, June 26 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. to empower the girls in your life, in grades 3-8, to learn from dynamic female coaches and make new friends while learning the fundamentals of enriching sports.
